About Heather Parker
Heather Parker was born and raised in the surrounding areas of Winston-Salem, NC. From a young age, she has been drawn to art her whole life. In the 1st grade, despite what she now sees as a picasso-esque fish collage, Heather’s art had won the Davidson county art competition for the county. It was since this that her art teacher, Mrs. James, had started to encourage Heather to pursue her art more.
Heather spent many years throughout middle school and high school painting with acrylics on her family’s dining room table and was always painting as gifts for others. For many years throughout college Heather paused her interest in painting because it wasn’t “important enough” or because it wasn’t “income bearing”. It wasn’t until after nursing school in 2023 that Heather felt a nudge from the Lord and decided to take an oil painting class with the intent of taking her interests seriously.
Heather found an artist in Greensboro, Katie Podracky, who’s style with color has inspired her own work. After taking Katie’s oil painting class, she fell in love with oils. Since then, Heather has worked to master her skills with oil and has fallen in love with capturing landscapes local to North Carolina.
Working as a part time nurse and part time artist, Heather enjoys painting landscapes from coastal NC salt marshes, to the Blue Ridge mountains, to florals, and everything in between. In her spare time, she enjoys reading murder mysteries, eating at new food places with her husband, and taking trips to the mountains to explore and unwind.
